A tenacious spirit...

July 12, 2009...

"Failure". "Rejection". "Defeat". "Disappointment".

Call it whatever you want...but it's a crummy feeling.

For me? It sits in the core of my mental and emotional being for as long as the "loss" was big.

But I never let it stop me from battling again. I never let fear stop me from going another round.

Thank an extra-mile friend...

July 11, 2009...

Extra-mile friends are golden.

They are the people who are there to support you in tough times. They are the people who applaud your success in great times.

They don't ever speak in judgment. They don't ever walk in jealousy. They are true, and they sincerely care and believe in you.

If you have one of those people in your world, take a moment and say "thank you."

Because you are so darn lucky to have them.

Do you have a leak?

July 10, 2009...

"Where did the time go! I didn't get anything accomplished!"

"Today was just one of those days, and I was frustrated all day!"

In our time management, in our attitude...cracks happen in our foundations. Water seeps in...and we feel like we're drowning.

What eats up your time needlessly? What sends your emotions spiraling the wrong direction?

Find the crack in your foundation...and plug it.

Responsibility, routines...and ruts

July 9, 2009...

We fall into a groove. Some might say the groove is so deep that it becomes a rut.

"Responsibility" and "routine" become the norm, and the flow of "life" begins to just carry us along. We stop becoming a generator of the things to happen...and become simply bystanders to everything that is happening.

Do you feel this is happening in your life?

If so, remember the power of "cause and effect."

An easier way to magnify dreams...

July 8, 2009...

Some challenges aren't easy to overcome. Some goals aren't easy to accomplish.

Especially when we tackle them alone.

Sometimes, we flat out to need to find the very best people we can to support our mission. Additionally, we can never be afraid or too proud to ask for assistance.

It could be at work. It could be in opening up a new door. It could be in providing fresh eyes on a troubling situation.

The "Q" word...

July 7, 2009...

The "Q" word.

Run from it. Avoid it at all costs. Never let "quit" leave your lips.

Because when we do quit, others lose faith in us.

And then we begin to lose faith in ourselves.

A "No!" Day

July 6, 2009...

Today, I heard it a lot.

Endorsement leads, sponsorship seemed as if they all were sent the same morning memo: "Just say no!"

But you know what? "No" is okay. When our dreams are far in their reach, we need to expect "No!"

Even more importantly, though, we need to keep believing that "yes" is right around the corner.

A. Friend

July 5, 2009...

How many times have you had a rough day in life, and "a friend" helped get you through it?

How many times in life have you needed to hear that extra positive word of confidence from "a friend" in order to take the next step?

How may times in life has "a friend" believed in you so much that you even began to believe in yourself?

Thank goodness for having "a friend," huh?

 Even more...

Conversations...then and now.

July 4, 2009...

It's a day of picnics and friends...beach visits and fireworks. That's what stands out to so many about today.

And that's too bad.

Two hundred and thirty-three years ago, something pretty great happened. But it's easily passed over in the modern day.

And that's too bad, too.

I would imagine in the years leading up to that first 4th of July celebration, there were also days of picnics and friends. Like today.

The "Other Person Disease"

July 3, 2009...

One disease you don't read a whole lot about is called the "Other Person Disease."

This disease is responsible for so many bad and horrible things in the world that it's surprising we don't read more about it.
