"OUCH!"

December 8. 2008...

I am prompted to write about bad news. Agreed, not a motivating topic, but hang with me for about a dozen sentences, and I promise I will take us back to the top.

I have now come to call setbacks “Ouches!” As kids, we all fell. That was simply a part of learning to walk. Well, as adults we fall, too. Of course, our ouches often hurt in a different way than those early spills, but they should be looked at in the same fashion. "Fall down…cry…tell someone about the hurt…and then go run out and play again."

I know there are people who have lost jobs, have struggling businesses, sick cars that need money…there is an endless list of financial hurts. The key to getting back up again is not lying on the ground crying for too long. Follow the same rule book that you had earlier in life: “Fall down…cry…tell someone about the hurt…and then go run out and throw yourself into life again.”

I hate crying too long. And I have noted in my 46 years, the sooner those tears get wiped away, the sooner things get fixed.
